Snapseed HDR, Teri Lou, and an iPhone 5s in Portland

Sunday I purchased the new iPhone so today I treated myself to a photo shoot in Portland on the waterfront. A beautiful autumn day it was too. I had a great time, feeling the familiar passion run through my veins. I posed in 'The Backside of Teri Lou' fashion while on lookers watched this crazy girl taking photos of herself on her iPhone. It made me smile. 

However the best part was coming home to process the image. Letting my creative juices flow in ways that have been lacking. I was surprised to find Snapseed had been upgraded. A great addition is the HDR folder. Makes me excited to take some of my old truck images and reprocess them again to see the effect. Another addition is the option in Image Tune - opening up the shadows. WOW! I must say that my disappointment of losing White Balance soon disappeared when I saw the results of 'Shadow'.

Autumn in Zion

The first sign of Autumn in Zion

Autumn arrived in Zion about 3 weeks late this year. So I only caught the first of the color at the end of my trip. Just before the tunnel, when coming from the east, is a great pull out where the water has craved great grooves into the sandstone. The combo of the red tree and the lines caught my attention. Miss being there...lots!

I spent the evening setting up my apps on my new iPad2. Yes I have been working on the first generation iPad all this time. I just synced it and all seems to be organized as I set it up in iTunes. Now I need to decide if I am going to update my MacBook Pro to Lion so I can start to use the iCloud. Along with that I would need to learn Pages if I want my docs to sync with iCloud. Seems there has been so many changes lately that I have been spending much of my time on updating the devices and learning about all the changes, and not enough time being creative. However I have got a few ideas I have been working on and will share with the students in the Whidbey Workshop next week...I can't wait!

I drove from mile marker 1 to mile marker 469, the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway in autumn October 2010. Most of the drive unfortunately was very foggy or raining. It was a gorgeous journey that I would to repeat in the spring when the rhododendrons are blooming.

A Classic Single Tree - with a twist

The Twist

Driving along Skyline Drive in Virginia was absolutely gorgeous this past October.  A storm was brewing causing the wind to blow and the sun to pop in and out of the clouds. The fog was rolling through the valleys. It was a perfect autumn day, even though it made photographing a challenge. There are many pull offs along the Drive and I took advantage of most of them, driving in to take a peek at the scenery. At this particular stop I found my lone tree. The sun popped out for a moment to illuminate the branches with a warm cast of the late afternoon.

It wasn't until about a month later I processed this image. I had just recently discovered the app Iris and was practicing my skills. I found it to be extremely powerful. It is still a favorite app of mine that I use often.
