Last week I was home in Cle Elum for a typical quick visit. For the first time saw an image as I drove past this scene on my way to a friend house.  I processed it in a way that captured the essence of a scene years ago.

iPhone Photography and The Golden Hour

There are many ways to be creative with the iPhone and iPad. It still amazes me that I can see an image that I admire that was captured and processed big girl style and figure out how to duplicate it iOS style.
This is an example of how you can create a rich golden image from a colorful one.

I made several variations of this image until I finally decided on this one.

Cambodia Girls and Angry Birds

It is a Camera, it is a Telephone, it has the app "Angry Birds"

The iPhone on a tripod is a novelty around the world. However these girls could care less how many pixels the camera had. They were only interested if I had the app, "Angry Birds".

When I told them I had the game they looked at me with those big brown eyes and begged, "I play one minute?" It was my pleasure to let these respectful girls play for about ten minutes. No matter how far I travel children know the iPhone and they know Angry Birds!

When driving toward the Palouse today I felt my heart beating a little faster as I got closer. I get excited every time! I find that I like to turn up the music a bit louder as my body starts boppin' to the beat. This place just plain feels good!

Scrape Metal? - please NO!!!

As I have explained before, I spent about 6 wonderful weeks in the Palouse last summer. I asked lots of questions and had many adventures. Rod introduced me to Scott and Paula, two hard working farmers. Paula is the owner of these two combines that have been put out to pasture years ago. She has many heads of cow that frequently graze among them in the true spirit of a family farm. Last year I spent many days returning to these jewels to photograph them at different times of the day and weather conditions. One of my favorite images of the 7500 I captured last summer was this scene.

So this year one of my first stops was to show my clients this great photographic opportunity they presented. We spent a couple hours here getting the panoramic scene to close ups of the colorful rust. With my favorite image of last year in my head. I took the same angle with my iPhone this year. I like this scene because of Steptoe Butte, the icon of the area, in the background.

A few days after spending time photographing these antique combines I ran into Scott. He had a very welcoming joyful smile for me. I once again I told him how I had much I loved the setting of Paula's combines. It was then that he told me he almost turned them into scrape metal last winter but Rod told him, "Teri will kick your butt if you get rid of those combines." So glad that I have friends watching my back while I am gone!

So as today's blog I present this year's iPhone image of my favorite combines thanks to Scott listening to Rod's advice!

Today while discussing last week's assignment with my student Judy, I noticed that she put a frame around a Diptic image. I told her that I hadn't seen it done before and how clever idea it was. So in honor of the teacher learning from the student I am posting a framed Diptic image of my friend's Stan Chevy tonight.
Kinda went crazy with the app blending tonight - drinking lots of coffee!

Following my Passion

I am constantly inspired and motivated to create a new iPhone/iPad processed image by many different things and people. My mentor, Harry Sandler, fellow iPhoneographers and my students are a constant in my life and I am very appreciative of them. I see wonderful images all day long on Facebook and Flickr, and I am introduced to new photography apps almost daily. I could be overwhelmed by it all but most times at least I am not. Instead I find that I am constantly creating self induced deadlines so I can keep learning.
I started a list this morning of things I needed and wanted to do this week. It is long and most likely to carry into the following week. That is just fine with me, because I have discovered that since I have found my passion, great opportunities keep coming my way. Although the opportunities are great, it is the people who present those opportunities or are now a part of my life because of them that I am most grateful for.
