Shooting with iPhoneography Friends in the Palouse

Processed with Artista Haiku, Blender and Grungetastic

Discovered a new abandoned house today!

A group of iPhoneography friends and I decided to gather in the Palouse this week. We are having too much fun! This morning the clouds were glorious and we took full advantage of them. Our first stop at my favorite combines and at farmer Rod's. We stopped for lunch at Grumpy's in Garfield and all had a great hamburger. In the afternoon we captured a couple abandoned houses and barns. Finished the day with a lone tree and sunset at Steptoe.

Everyone is having a great time and I am enjoying being the guide.

I will have two more days with these wonderful photographers. I am so grateful!

Life as a Farm Dog

Did someone say "Let's Go!"
I must admit that one of the bast parts about the Palouse is Maddie, the golden retriever. Maddie is the perfect companion. I spent about 6 weeks in the Palouse last summer driving over 2500 miles throughout the county marking all the highlights for photographers to shoot. Maddie toured the county with me. I took her everywhere. She laid down on the floor of the passenger seat, never moving from her spot until we arrived at our destination. Only when we were in the country would she leave the car, refusing to step foot on the asphalt of the city.

Today's blog spot is extra special for me because it represents Maddie as the true farm dog she is. She is always ready to go and this image says it all. I also would like to thank Rod, her owner, for such a memorable summer. Not only was he so generous with his best dog but he was very patient to answer the continuing questions I had about the life of a 3rd generation Palouse farmer.

I will be back time and time again because of Maddie, Rod and so many others that continue to make me feel at home!

Farmer's Tools

It was my experience that most farmer's are not this organized

I went to visit my friend Rod, a 3rd generation wheat farmer in the Palouse, a couple weeks ago. I captured a small section of his workshop tools. He is incredibly organized. Most farmers are very skilled at many things. Rod can repair and replace all parts on a his farm truck, lawn mower, tractor, combine and other various attachments. He is also a skilled welder and horseman. However when it came to putting a barbecue together last year he was very grateful for my help because I actually read the directions.
